I read 1 Corinthians 1-3 this morning, and I was so struck by these amazing verses. I thought
I must post these on my blog! So I am.
I always get ideas for posts and never do any of them... bad, bad. I figure I can't do that anymore, so expect to see me post a little more. *smile*
They are truly radical and challenging to the modern mindset and agenda of glorifying man's intellect and completely disregarding God.
For me, however, these verses are exciting! These verses are beautiful! These verses are so touching, so encouraging, so convicting.
We don't have to strive to be wise by the world's standards. Because what the world thinks is wise
isn't wise at all. We must submit to Christ, let all our worldly strivings cease, and rejoice that He has chosen us-- foolish, weak and lowly humans that we are.
He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our LORD Jesus Christ.
1 Cor. 1:8
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
''I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.''
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
1 Cor. 1 : 18-21
''Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish thins of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of the world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the LORD.''
1 Cor. 1 : 26-31 (I just love this! Praise God!)
So, here's what I'm going to do. As I continue to read 1 Corinthians, I'll share with you the verses that have resonated in me.
Let me tell you, God's Word is like treasure, it's like fresh air, it's like cool water.
these verses have been super encouraging to me, I pray you'll be blessed with me!
